33rd ANNUAL TOPANGA DAYS COUNTRY FAIR
Memorial Day Weekend, May 27, 28 & 29, 2006
presented by the Topanga Community Club

Topanga Days Creates a Mountain of a Tribute to Its Eclectic Roots!

Old hippies, young hippies, poets, painters, musicians, movie stars, moguls, cowboys, schoolteachers and normal folk with normal jobs invite you to come celebrate the splendor of Topanga style. Once a year Topanga opens its arms and welcomes its neighbors to join us for this huge celebration of music, dance, performance art and the chance to unite with friends, old and new. From Bluegrass to Latin Funk to World Music and everything in between, this year is sure to be an incredible celebration of our unique and culturally diverse community. Recently dubbed the Biggest Bohemian Bash in Southern California, Topanga Days Country Fair now features three stages of diverse nonstop music, belly dancing, fun and games for all ages, over 80 unique craft vendors and a variety of mouthwatering food from Cajun to hot tamales to comfort-loving sausages. Since 1973, Topanga Days is a three-day festival Fundraiser for the Topanga Community House in the heart of Topanga State Park.

'60s & '70s Folk/Pop icon Maria Muldaur will be belting out the Blues in a high-energy New Orleans tribute. So bring your dancin’ shoes and come on down to wiggle and jiggle with thousands movin' to the groove. This past February, Maria was honored with a 2006 Grammy nomination for Best Blues Album; and she is currently recording a CD of Dylan love songs. We are thrilled to have her grace our stage on Monday with her Red Hot Blueisiana Band. Rich Armstrong with his trademark blend of Latin, Pop, Rhythm & Soul also joins us on Monday.

Leading the Bluegrass & Newgrass stomp is festival-circuit-favorite Hot Buttered Rum. This music nods to the past and sits squarely in the present. Their style appeals to traditional Bluegrass aficionados as well as dance-hungry jam band fans. They are sure to be a Topanga Days favorite on Sunday. Best of all - these boys will be arriving on a veggie-oil-powered bus! Joining our tribute on Sunday is legendary drummer John Densmore (of The Doors) with his band Tribaljazz. And introducing new Topangans on Sarah McLaughlin’s Nettwerk Records, The Weepies serenade us with Folk Rock on Sunday morning.

On Saturday MC RAI, The Voice of North Africa, fuses Arabic Urban, Tribal & Rock. Many more special performers including local favorites Cecilia Noel, Steve McCormick & Friends, Topanga Mountain Tree-O, Teresa James & the Rhythm Tramps, Bordertown and The Family Rock & Berry Oakley Jr. join us throughout the weekend.
